Important Message From Team Owner Jeff Pease – Boosters Fees

NCA Parents,

It was great to see many of you at our team building relay event and pancake breakfast last month and at our new parent meetings which are enjoying record attendance!  Due to your generosity at the relay event we raised nearly $3000 for our designated charities.  For those of you who were not in attendance I introduced some important and significant changes to the structure of NCA and our relationship with our non-profit boosters organization, and how this will impact our membership.

In the past, our Boosters organization has charged our membership an annual boosters fee to support all the important benefits that are provided to your swimmers.  This fee directly subsidized the following:

  • Coaches travel costs to regional and national travel meets
  • Subsidy for swimmers and managers to regional and national travel meets
  • Coach Education and Training Clinics
  • Swimmer incentives that included: green meet and internal meet ribbons, swag and pizza, Super Star Saturdays, ASCA patches, Championship t-shirt caps and spirit items, hammers, bag tags, ball caps and team building event support
  • Subsidy for team events that included awards banquets, holiday party/spirit party, breakout swim clinics, cove week and motivational programs
  • Age group and Senior dryland program and dryland equipment, tarp replacements and other pool equipment needs
  • Subsidy for swim fee hardship assistance and Kay Pentz College Scholarship
  • Support for special events like this year’s Go For The Gold that supported our Olympic and Paralympic Trials swimmers

This year we are eliminating the annual boosters fee and replacing this fee with an annual registration fee that will be charged by NCA (not the boosters) to your Team Unify account.  This new registration fee will support all the benefits I have listed above except for those items that will need to be supported by our non profit organization due to tax exempt reasons. To view the  2016-17 registration fees go to the registration fee page.  This registration fee will be billed to your TU account on Nov 1, 2016. If you have any issues with this billing date please contact Sue at [email protected] by October 17th. You will have zero fundraising requirements just like in the past.  I believe this change will eliminate much confusion on having to pay fees to two separate organizations and all team information will be located on one website, ncaswim.com.  Look for an email from Sue regarding the annual online registration. This will open mid next week and it will need to be completed by Saturday October 15th.

Our non profit boosters organization will retain their non-exempt tax status but has been reorganized to primarily support the following:

  • Administer the Kay Pentz Scholarship
  • Provide financial assistance for swimmers who experience financial hardship
  • Provide financial support for special events like the Go For The Gold or Team Relay meet that supports local charities
  • Provide community outreach for children who can not afford learn to swim programs with our existing partner including the Boys & Girls Clubs of Carlsbad, the City of Carlsbad and the Jewish Community Center
  • Reach out to our NCA Alums and Business communities to attract corporate and community grants to support NCA athletes training and travel needs

To view more information on the NCA Boosters organization go to the NCA Boosters page.

We will also be doing our first membership fee increase in 3 years, but this will only be for practice groups where we have increased their training times/days and added dryland, including adding personalized dryland for the first time to our Senior 2 program.  Go to the Billing Structure page to view our updated membership fee structure effective Nov 1, 2016. Note, I have added a 10% discount to all retired military families. You will need to contact Sue directly if you qualify for this discount.

I would also  like to highlight that effective Nov 1, 2016 I have increased the officiating credit from $30/session to $50/session toward your swimmers fees and will be awarding Speedo swag to the top 3 officials (number of sessions worked) each quarter. As always we appreciate all your time and support in being officials for NCA.

Finally,  I am working very hard with my staff to bring the best possible program to your children. I hope you have noticed our new and improved team website and changes that we are still making to streamline our communication to you and promote the great community we are building with you and your children.  Look for more to come in the upcoming weeks as I unveil additional highlights we have added this season!

Sincerely

Jeff Pease
